Robin Class News (Year 2)
Autumn term 2022
Robins worked incredibly hard on their Gingerbread Man stories. I really was impressed with their determination and they were all so proud of what they had written. So we decided to share the stories with Otter Class, they loved having the story read to them.
Baking and creating
Robins have also enjoyed baking and decorating gingerbread men. We even made extra for all the teachers to try, which went down a treat!
In DT, we discussed
'What if the Gingerbread Man didn't get carried across the river by a fox?'
'What if we found materials from around our classroom and created our own boats that could sail him across?'
The children loved having the freedom to explore different materials, glue, tape, string, card, pipe cleaners, lolly sticks, split pins and the list goes on......... to create their own boat for their Gingerbread Man. The children really shone, showing real thought about how they could design their own boat, coming up with great designs and ideas.
We had a fantastic trip to Colchester zoo. We got up close to the tiger, enjoyed the sealions, saw giraffes, meerkats, penguins and more. We even witnessed the lion bringing up a hairball!! The children got really involved in the workshop and enjoyed exploring the different animal items.
A great day!
